Thank You College of Education Donors!

July 10, 2014

Vi FlorezThank you for your charitable gift this academic year to the College of Education. It has been a busy and productive year, and I am so grateful to you for to your financial support. The gifts of community-minded donors like you are vital to our College.

The current high level of interest in education from government, the private sector and citizens and parents provides great challenges and opportunities for the College. As we work to re-visit our teacher preparation programs, we remain committed to the collaborations that will best serve teachers and their students.

We focus on the well-being of the whole child, and your gifts make this work possible in areas from counseling to nutrition to physical fitness. Thank you. Because of you, our donors, we are growing our partnerships in the community to be of greater service.

The search for the next Dean of the College was successful, and an outstanding candidate was chosen. Dr. Salvador Hector Ochoa will begin his term July 14. Dean Ochoa has served for seven years as Dean of the College of Education at the University of Texas-Pan American. Dean Ochoa is passionate about improving educational outcomes for all children, particularly those currently underserved. We are thrilled to welcome him to the College, and I look forward to working with him.

On behalf of the professionals whom we prepare to serve the children and families of our State, thank you once again for your generosity this year. Thank you for all you do for the College of Education and for your continued partnership with us.
