College of Education and Human Sciences Emergency Scholarship Fund
NOTICE: The College of Education and Human Sciences Emergency Scholarship application will be closed starting on May 13, 2026. The application is expected to reopen on August 17, 2026.
The College of Education and Human Sciences Emergency Scholarship is available to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at UNM. This scholarship is not intended for general financial hardship or ongoing financial need, but may be available to students experiencing the following personal* emergency circumstances:
- Homelessness
- Eviction
- Utility shut-off
- Transportation (i.e. vehicle repair.)
- Death in the family
- Medical expenses
Additional circumstances may be considered at the discretion of Scholarship Committee. Scholarships may not be used to repay the University, including Bursar Account charges.
The maximum amount for this award is $1,000. Award amounts may be less than $1,000 depending on supporting documentation and need.
Additional Eligibility Information
Regular full- or part-time UNM faculty or staff members are not eligible for The College of Education and Human Sciences Emergency Scholarship. Student employees, work-study students, and graduate assistants are eligible.
International Status
International students are eligible for The College of Education and Human Sciences Emergency Scholarship. However, please note that all awards are subject to foreign taxation of approximately 30%. All awards to international students will be less than the stated amount at the time of application approval, so please plan accordingly.

Application Process
- Submit your application. Include supporting documentation.
- Applications will be reviewed within 2-3 business days.
- Approval or denial will be provided via email.
- Award will arrive via direct deposit within 5-7 business days.
