COEHS Promotion and Tenure
At the University of New Mexico, faculty effectiveness is assessed in four categories: (1) teaching, (2) scholarly work, (3) service, and (4) personal characteristics. The UNM Faculty Handbook is the authoritative document with more detailed information. The UNM Faculty Handbook describes roles and responsibilities, as well as outlines guidelines for all reviews: annual review, mid-probationary, promotion and tenure, and promotion to full professor. The COEHS Memo on Reviews is released in March annually to help faculty prepare for milestone reviews. The document outlines internal COEHS deadlines to ensure faculty members meet university deadlines. The COEHS Policy on Excellence serves as a guide to set forth guidance on achieving excellence in Scholarship and Teaching.
