Graduate Minors in Educational Psychology

Cognition, Motivation, and Human Development
In the Cognition, Motivation, and Human Development graduate minor, you will gain a broad and critical perspective on the psychological factors that influence learning and development in schools, other educational settings, and learning environments across the lifespan. The research-based curriculum examines foundational concepts and theories in psychology and explores their applications to learning and instruction.
Quantitative Methods in Education
In the Quantitative Methods in Education graduate minor, you will develop the research skills needed to contribute original knowledge to your field. This minor emphasizes the critical evaluation and application of research and theory, grounded in measurement, assessment, research methodology, and quantitative methods. You will receive rigorous training in educational statistics and research methodologies, preparing you to evaluate and conduct educational research across a variety of contexts.
Who Can Pursue These Minors?
All graduate students—whether enrolled in the College of Education and Human Sciences or another college at UNM—are encouraged to explore how one of our two graduate minors can complement their academic and professional goals.
Program Requirements
Both graduate minors require a minimum of 12–13 credits. Please contact an EDPY faculty member to discuss your interests and identify a graduate minor advisor.

To apply, you need identify an Educational Psychology minor advisor. Once you have identified a faculty member, contact them to arrange a meeting to discuss being your minor advisor. After you have met with an EDPY faculty member, and they have agreed to be your minor advisor, complete the form from the Office of Graduate Studies.
