10th Annual Striking Eagle Native American basketball Invitational (SENAI) and Education Fair coming December 28
The largest Native American high school basketball tournament in the country is once again returning to The University of New Mexico – the Striking Eagle Native American Invitational (SENAI) is celebrating its 10th annual event at the end of December.
The three-day tournament, featuring 56 teams from New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado, will be held at Johnson Center starting Tuesday, Dec. 28.
“On behalf of the University of New Mexico Society of Native American Graduate Students, Striking Eagle Circle and the UNM College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS), we would love to have everyone out here cheering on these student-athletes and taking part in all the educational opportunities we’ll have available,” said Shawn Secatero, COEHS associate professor.
Each year, the SENAI event attracts more than 5,000 spectators, 800 Native students and 150 volunteers. The tournament will also include educational workshops, an art exhibition, a college, career, and health fair and Native cultural activities – included in admission prices.
Admission Prices:
- $25.00 | three-day tournament pass
- $10 for adults, $5 for students and elders | daily admission
Free parking will be available in “A” lot located southeast of Johnson Center. Large bags and purses will not be allowed and masks will be required at this indoor event.
