UNM Professor Allison M. Borden receives the 2020 Hanne Mawhinney Distinguished Service Award
UNM Professor Allison M. Borden recently received the 2020 Hanne Mawhinney Distinguished Service Award from the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). Professor Borden also is a Chester C. Travelstead Distinguished Faculty Fellow. The Fellowship was established by donors to the College in order to recognize outstanding faculty.
Professor Borden also is UCEA’s 2019 recipient of the Jay D. Scribner Mentoring Award. She earned her EdD from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Before that, she spent 25 years in K-12 education as a teacher, principal, and bilingual program director. At the College, she has supervised the dissertation research of 25 graduates in Educational Leadership. She has also served on the dissertation committees of an additional 26 graduates from Educational Leadership and other programs in the College. She said she sees her efforts on behalf of doctoral students and pre-tenure faculty as “the right thing to do” and “a way to pay forward” the benefits she received from her mentors.
