College of Education and Human Sciences Responds to the Coronavirus Pandemic

coes-responds-to-virus.jpgI understand this is a difficult time for everyone right now. I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe, healthy, and connected during this crisis.

I wanted to take a moment to inform you of the College’s response to the coronavirus pandemic:

Instruction for our students continues remotely so that all students can reap the rewards of the investments of time and dedication they have made in the Spring 2020 semester. Our faculty are working closely with the New Mexico Public Education Department to ensure that teacher candidates can successfully complete their student teaching experiences through alternative methods.

Advisement and other support services for our students became available on-line immediately when the University moved to remote instruction. Our College is committed to keeping all students on track toward graduation.

In light of the Coronavirus pandemic, our Spring Open House scheduled for May 15 has been cancelled. Sadly, UNM commencement activities also have been postponed. The College will offer a virtual graduation celebration for its students at the end of May.

Now, as so many of us are practicing social distancing, we believe it’s more important than ever to connect with our alumni and friends. While we are unable to meet in-person, we would love to invite you to virtual events that we will hold in the future to highlight the accomplishments of our amazing students and faculty. Please watch your e-mail inbox for future invitations.

During this unprecedented time, I have received messages of support from many of you in our community of alumni, former faculty, supporters and friends. I send my best to you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,
