Dr. Deena Gould is a science teacher educator and a science education researcher. Her past work as an elementary and secondary science teacher influences her current work as assistant professor of Teacher Education at UNM. As a researcher, she partners with teachers and communities to develop and study support systems for the development of STEM knowledge and STEM interests. Taking an ecosystems perspective, she examines how we grow STEM people through processes that serve youth, children, and community interests instead of pipeline interests. Dr. Gould earned a PhD in Learning, Literacies, and Technologies at Arizona State University with a focus on STEM education. Her scholarship has been published in state, national, and international research and practitioner journals and conferences.
