Jenna Doane, PhD

Dr. Jenna Doane is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy. Her research investigates access and participation in two-way dual language immersion (DLI) programs. Drawing on critical whiteness studies, intersectionality, and critical quantitative methods, she analyzes how enrollment patterns, funding decisions, and leadership practices often privilege white, affluent families while marginalizing multilingual students and students of color.
Her second area of research explores how political and religious discourses in conservative contexts influence immigration attitudes, the reinforcement of white culture, and the educational experiences of im/migrant and multilingual communities.
Her work also examines access to mental health supports and services for im/migrant, Indigenous, and multilingual students. She investigates how school leaders interpret and respond to students’ psychological safety needs and how the availability of services across different districts and schools shapes students’ access to care
