Dr. Amorim is an Associate Professor in the Exercise Science Program. Dr. Amorim completed his Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology at the University of New Mexico under the mentorship of Dr. Suzanne Schneider. He received his Master's in Sports Training and bachelor’s in Exercise Science at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil. Prior to returning to UNM, Dr. Amorim was an Associate professor at the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri in Brazil. His primary research interests focus on Environmental Physiology with focus on heat stress. He is also interested in obesity, insulin resistance, exercise training protocols (i.e., high intensity interval training) and exercise recovery (i.e., cold water immersion).
