Please read the instructions thoroughly, before applying. If your application is incomplete, it will not be considered. The link to apply is at the end of the instructions.
Each student must reapply every year in order to be considered for a scholarship. This includes past recipients who have received a scholarship from the College of Education & Human Sciences.
Georgia Abeita Oliver Memorial Endowment
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic potential having achieved a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance.
- Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences
- Students must be from one of the 19 pueblos of New Mexico
- First preference to students majoring in Elementary Education.
- First preference to students from Acoma, Laguna, and Isleta Pueblo.
American GI Forum of Albuquerque Endowed Scholarship in Education
Requirements:
- Full-time undergraduate admitted to the College of Education & Human Sciences or full-time graduate student working on a MA, MS, EDSPC, or PhD in education.
- First preference to student who is an Albuquerque resident (greater Metro area including Bernalillo county and Rio Rancho).
- First preference to students of Hispanic heritage.
- First preference to student who is a veteran.
- GPA of 2.0 or better.
Rebecca Gonzales Archuleta Endowed Scholarship
Requirements:
Any Recipient Must:
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate teacher preparation program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given,
- Be an individual, who, through the scholarship application, submits evidence of the individual’s commitment to working in bilingual education in any two languages,
- Possess an unmet financial need as demonstrated through a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or similar process by the U.S. Government that is reviewed by the College,
- Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Madge Helene Bender Endowed Doctoral Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipients must be a doctoral student in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given.
The Juliet Fleischer Block and Betty Jo Block Marder Scholarship
Requirements:
- Have been born in New Mexico and be a current New Mexico resident.
- Admitted to the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Be in her/his JUNIOR YEAR.
- Plan to teach in a public school in New Mexico after graduation.
- The award amount is $2,000.
- The same scholar may receive the award for up to four successive semesters, until graduation, provided the recipient is making satisfactory academic progress toward a degree and is maintaining a grade point average of 2.5 or better.
Melvin and Consuelo Cordova Future Teacher Scholarship
**Requires Additional Information from Applicant – See “View Preferences” Section Below**
Requirements:
- Be pursuing an undergraduate degree in a teacher preparation program and be participating in student teaching at the time the award is given
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA)
- Submit a letter of intent that addresses whether the student:
- is from rural New Mexico and plans to teach there, and
- is a not-traditional student who did not enroll in college immediately after high school or who is returning to school and
- is a care-taking parent
- Preference will be given to students from rural New Mexico. Preference may be given to students who are non-traditional students and/or who are care-taking parents
- The scholarship may be re-awarded to the same student in subsequent years until graduation, provided that the student continues to make adequate academic progress toward graduation
Carl P. and Erma W. Dunifon Scholarship
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement, GPA of 2.0 or better.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Preference shall be given to a single student without children.
Federated Women’s Club of Albuquerque Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipients must be full time students in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Recipients must be female.
- Recipients must demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance (FAFSA)
- Recipients must be residents of the State of New Mexico
- Recipients must indicate an intent to pursue their professional career in New Mexico
Donna J. and Ronald S. Feingold Endowed Scholarship for Teachers
Requirements:
- Recipients must be undergraduates
- Be enrolled in a teacher preparation program in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences at the time the award is given
- Be graduates of a high school in New Mexico or on the Navajo Nation
- Be a member of a state or federally recognized Native American Indian Tribe
- Submit a statement of purpose and/or a letter of recommendation from a COEHS faculty that demonstrates the student’s commitment to serving Native American communities and/or in schools that predominately serve Native American students
Nancy L. Fraser Doctoral Scholarship Fund
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Be enrolled as a full-time doctoral student in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
Bob and Kay Glantz Endowment
ELIGIBILITY:
Any recipient must:
- Be a part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a teacher preparation program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given.
- Be an individual, who, through the scholarship application, submits evidence of the individual's commitment to working in schools serving Native American students.
- Be a member of a state or federally recognized Native American Indian tribe.
William and Dorothy Gram Scholarship Fund
Requirements:
- The scholarship will support students who are from California and attending the College of Education & Human Sciences at The University of New Mexico, with a preference for supporting students who are pursuing careers in teaching and/or school counseling.
- Please write a statement supporting how you are from California, and how you are pursuing a career in teaching and/or counseling.
Hagengruber Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Eligibility:
Any Recipient Must:
- Be pursuing a Master’s Degree in a teacher preparation program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given.
- Be a resident of New Mexico or the Navajo Nation.
- Be an individual who, through the scholarship application process, submits evidence of:
- Their experience or commitment to working as a teacher in a Title I school/a school serving students from low-income families in New Mexico or on the Navajo Nation, or
- Their experience or commitment to working as a teacher in New Mexico or on the Navajo Nation in areas of high need as defined by the UNM College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the scholarship is advertised. At the time of the creation of this scholarship, those areas are early care and learning, elementary education, math education, science education, special education, bilingual education and TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages).
Preference may be given to eligible students who:
- Possess financial need as demonstrated through a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or similar process by the U.S. Government that is reviewed by the College of Education Scholarship Committee.
College of Education and Human Sciences Native American Scholarship
Scholarship for students in COEHS who are members of state or federally recognized Indian tribe.
Judith A. and Donald E. Hampton Scholarship for Teachers
Requirements:
- Recipients must be undergraduate students.
- Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher preparation program.
- Recipients must be engaged in student teaching at the time the award is given.
Jeanne Hopler Endowed Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipients will be female.
- Student must be enrolled in the College of Education & Human Sciences specializing in K-12 education.
Byron Henry Ives Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipient will be female.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Recipient seeking advanced teacher training
- Must be resident of the State of New Mexico having completed a high school education.
- Preference shall be given to applicants who reside in Albuquerque.
Helen and Wilson Howard Ivins Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Be enrolled as a full-time doctoral student in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Completed comprehensive examinations leading to a doctoral degree.
- Be pursuing a career focusing on Secondary Education
- Please provide a letter of interest outlining how you will focus your career on Secondary Education.
Mary Karen Janes Endowed Memorial Graduate Scholarship
Requirements:
- Awarded to graduate students in Elementary Education focusing on 5th grade or younger.
- Demonstrate academic achievement.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
United States Ambassador Mari-Luci Jaramillo Endowed Scholarship

Requirements:
- Outstanding scholar and leader
- Committed to Social Justice and understands the unique needs of the Hispanic/Latino Community
- Be a New Mexico resident
- Be pursuing a doctoral degree in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences when the award is given
- Possess financial need
- Have an excellent academic record
- Given to applicants of any race, ethnicity, or national origin who meet the above requirements
- Submit an application that addresses:
- How the applicant has come to understand the unique needs of the Hispanic/Latino community by having:
- lived in a predominately Hispanic/Latino community or
- attended a predominately Hispanic/Latino high school or
- attended a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) of higher education or
- demonstrated a strong commitment through sustained work or volunteer experiences serving Hispanic/Latino communities in the US, furthering our understanding of Hispanic/Latino communities
- How the applicant plans to address educational and social issues of equity and inclusion in the United States;
- How the applicant plans to contribute in their scholarship on issues faced by Hispanic/ Latino communities, such as helping poor and disenfranchised groups and communities to overcome the barriers they face; and
- Documentation of the applicant's record of active engagement and leadership in the area of equity and inclusion related to the Hispanic/Latino community.
William M. Kane Endowed Memorial Scholarship

Requirements:
- Be enrolled in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences
- Possess financial need
- Be passionate about promoting good health through his/her professional career
- Will be given to students majoring in community health,
- And/or any major related to health, exercise or sports sciences,
- First generation college students.
- Please write a brief essay exhibiting your passion of promoting good health through your professional career.
Melissa and Joshua Keller Endowed Scholarship for Fourth-Year Education Students
Requirements:
- Enrolled as a student in his/her fourth (4) year of study as an undergraduate at the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Be involved in a practicum (i.e., be engaged in student teaching) as required to complete his/her degree.
Mildred Bunch Langston, EdD Teacher Preparation Endowed Scholarship

- Recipients must be enrolled in a teacher preparation program.
- Recipients must be from New Mexico.
- Recipients must possess financial need (FAFSA).
- Recipients will be rural students;

Flonnie Ellen Matherly Endowed Scholarship in Elementary Education

Joe S. and Dell Miera Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Be admitted to a graduate program in Teacher Education at the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Demonstrate academic achievement with a GPA of 2.8 in both undergraduate and graduate courses from an accredited college or university.
- Be making satisfactory progress toward graduation by enrolling in at least 6 hours per semester.
- Students who are native New Mexicans,
- Raised in New Mexico
- Third or more generation of native New Mexicans
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Pursuing a career in Secondary Education.
John Milne Scholarship Fund
Requirements:
- Must be upper classmen.
- Planning to teach in a public school upon graduation.
- Awarded on the basis of financial need (FAFSA), ability, and character.
Carolyn Jones Minton and Thomas E. Minton Scholarship for Teachers
Requirements:
- Recipients must be undergraduate students enrolled in a teacher preparation program in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences at the time the award is given
- Recipients must demonstrate financial need (FAFSA)
- Recipients through a submitted statement of purpose and/or letters of recommendation from College of Education & Human Sciences faculty, demonstrate the student’s commitment to the field of education
- Be re-awarded to the same student in subsequent years until graduation, provided that the student continues to meet the criteria for the scholarship and maintains adequate academic progress toward graduation
- Students who will be engaged in student teaching at the time the award is given
Marion Monical Endowed Scholarship in Education
Requirements:
- Awarded to a UNM College of Education & Human Sciences junior or senior student during their student teaching.
Yvette Montoya Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipients must be enrolled in Educational Diagnosis, Educational Psychology or Educational Leadership.
The Emma May Olson Memorial Scholarship in Education
Requirements:
- Awarded to Native American student
- Recipients must be enrolled full-time in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- First preference and only if no qualified Native American student can be identified may the scholarship be awarded to other students.
Osuna Family Endowment

Requirements:
- Recipients must be enrolled in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences at the time of the award is given
- Be pursuing an undergraduate degree in teacher preparation program
- Possess financial need as demonstrated through a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or similar process by the U.S Government that is reviewed by the College of Education & Human Sciences Scholarship Committee
- Plan to take at least three Special Education courses during their course of study and submit a plan outlining which courses will be taken and when
- It is the Donors’ preference that the scholarship be re-awarded to the same student in subsequent years until graduation, for up to 5 years, provided the student maintains 2.5 GPA or higher and continues to make adequate academic progress toward graduation
Arthur and Phoebe Pack Environmental Education Fund

Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement, with a GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Provide a letter of interest that describes short and long-term professional goals, and skills and strengths being brought to the fellowship experience.
- Provide an updated resume.
- Submit a proposed plan for participation in the environmental education program.
Oliver L. and Louise R. Pembroke Memorial Scholarship Fund
Requirements:
- Awarded to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in education.
- Recipient shall have been admitted to the College of Education & Human Sciences in a program leading to an undergraduate degree in education.
- Demonstrate academic achievement.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
Alex C. Peralta Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
- Demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance (FAFSA).
- Be an Education major.
- Be a junior or senior.
Helen L. Sagl Memorial Scholarship in Education
Requirements:
- Recipient must be female
- Majoring in Elementary Education - graduate with a degree in education.
- In their final year of college.
- Who have maintained a 3.0 GPA.
- Based on financial need (FAFSA).
Josephine H. Selvage Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipient shall be admitted to the College of Education & Human Sciences in a program leading to an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education.
- Recipient must plan to teach in New Mexico after graduation.
- Demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 2.8 at UNM and /or other accredited institutions of higher education.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Be making satisfactory progress toward graduation.
- Students in their junior year, as it is the intention of the Donor to award the scholarship to the same student for a maximum of two years up until graduation, assuming that the student is making adequate progress towards graduation.
Dr. Edward Sengel, III Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
Requirements:
- Be a doctoral student working on his/her dissertation in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Be 40 years of age or older.
- Be in the top 10% of his/her class and/or demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
- Demonstrate financial need for scholarship assistance.
The Emma Showman Scholarship
Requirements:
- Must be admitted to a Master’s degree program within the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Must be licensed or will be licensed to teach upon graduation.
- Intend to teach (Pre-K -12) upon graduation.
- Need based (FAFSA required).
Dr. Charles R. Spain Memorial Fund
Requirements:
- Graduate or undergraduate students majoring in Education.
- Demonstrate academic achievement.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
Teacher Preparation Endowed Scholarship
Eligibility:
- Any student with a specialty in TESOL/bilingual education or other high need areas as determined by the Dean of the College of Education.
Nelle Gooch Travelstead Scholarship
Requirements:
- Outstanding undergraduate students in the College of Education & Human Sciences who are committed to teaching in the public schools of New Mexico for at least two (2) years after graduating.
- Be an undergraduate enrolled in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
- Must have 60 hours at UNM with a GPA of 3.0.
- The same undergraduate may be selected no more than 4 consecutive semesters; the committee must be persuaded of sufficient progress for that long.
Marjorie Yepsen and Carleen F. Farnam Endowed Scholarship Fund
Requirements:
- Awarded to an undergraduate student
- Demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 3.4 or higher
- Be enrolled as a full-time student majoring in Education
- Students may receive the award in consecutive years up to four (4) years provided they maintain the requirements outlined above. A student may not receive more than $1,500 per year in awards from this fund.
Counselor Education Scholarship
Requirements:
- Any Recipient must be pursuing a degree in College of Education and Human Sciences' Counselor Education Program at the time the award is given.
Pat and Alex Czeto Endowed Scholarship in Nutrition and Dietetics
**Requires Additional Information from Applicant – See “View Preferences” Section Below**
Requirements:
- Recipients must be admitted, full-time or part-time students in good standing at the time the award is given in an undergraduate, graduate or internship program in Nutrition and Dietetics in the College of Education.
- Recipient must be a member of one of the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico (Acoma, Taos, Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, San Felipe, Jemez, Zuni, Zia, Nambe, Picuris, Ohkay Owingeh, Santo Domingo, Laguna, Isleta, Santa Ana, Sandia, Cochiti, and Pojoaque), the Jicarilla Apache Nation, the Mescalero Apache Tribe or the Navajo Nation.
- Recipients must possess financial need (FAFSA).
- Recipients must possess a UNM GPA of 2.75 or higher at the time of the application.
- Recipients must be graduates of an accredited high school or community college in New Mexico or on the Navajo Nation.
- It is the Donors’ preference that the recipients demonstrate proof and a record of involvement in past activities related to healthy nutrition in native communities.
Family Studies Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Student must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate student (12 or more hours) in the Family Studies Program, or as a graduate student (9 or more hours) in the Family Studies Program
- Undergraduate student must have been enrolled at UNM full-time for three (3) semesters
- Award will be given to student with the highest GPA
- Will be awarded on the basis of economic need (FAFSA)
Margaret “Peggy” B. Hoffman Scholarship

Requirements:
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences Family Studies Program
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving his/her community by showing a history of community involvement. Applicant will submit an essay of not more than 350 words describing their commitment to serving their New Mexico community.
- Demonstrate financial need
- A strong preference will be given to students intending to become social workers in New Mexico.
Dolores Jaramillo Martinez Endowed Scholarship Fund
ELIGIBILITY:
Any Recipient Must:
- Be a student in an Early Childhood Education Program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given
- Possess an unmet financial need
- Plan to work as a teacher in an early care and learning or elementary school setting
Lou Rosasco, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Requirements:
Be enrolled in the COEHS – Dept of Individual, Family, and Community Education
Sandia Responsible Gaming Scholarship
Requirements:
- Recipient must be an enrolled part-time or full time student in the Counseling Program at the time the award is given. Must be a graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Virginia Curran Shipman Doctoral Fellowship
**Requires Additional Information from Applicant – See “View Preferences” Section Below**
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement with a GPA of 3.5 in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs from an accredited college or university.
- Meet the graduate program admission requirements.
- Be seeking a doctorate in Family Studies.
- Provide a 500-word description of their current research objective.
- First preference will be given to students who are graduates of an out-of-state or foreign institution and who are recent or non-New Mexico residents.
- Fellowship may be awarded to the same student in successive semesters until completion of his/her doctoral program, provided the recipient is making satisfactory progress toward a degree and is maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or better.
Elizabeth P. Simpson Memorial Fund
Requirements:
- Recipients must be female.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Be concentrating her studies in the fields of Nutrition or Family Studies while pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Alan and Doreen White Endowed Doctoral Fellowship
Requirements:
- Recipients must be enrolled in the PhD Program in Educational Psychology in the UNM College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given.
- Recipients must provide proof of a record of academic excellence.
- Recipients must submit an essay outlining how the recipient qualifies for the fellowship’s preferences.
- First preference will be given to international students.
- Second preference will be given to students of Hispanic background or members of federally recognized Native American tribes.
Linda and Charles White Endowed Scholarship in Counseling in honor of Sarah, Allison, Rachel, and Daniel
ELIGIBILITY:
Any Recipient Must:
- Be a part-time or full-time student enrolled in the MA in Counselor Education Program in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given,
- Be an individual, who, through the scholarship application, submits evidence of the individual’s commitment to: 1) working in school counseling or mental health counseling, 2) working in the state of New Mexico, and 3) serving Native Americans and Indigenous New Mexicans.
- Be a member of a state or federally recognized Native American tribe or have lived in a predominately Hispanic/Latino community or attended a predominately Hispanic/Latino high school.
L. F. "Tow" and Pearl J. Diehm Sports Medicine Endowment
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement (minimum 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale).
- Be a graduate of an accredited athletic training education program from a college or university, with preference given to students graduating from New Mexico institutions.
- Be a National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) member in good standing.
- Be licensed or pursuing licensure within the state of New Mexico.
- Be a BOC certified athletic trainer.
- Be assisting with the education of UNM undergraduate athletic training students.
- Be pursuing a graduate degree in the Department of Health Exercise and Sports Science in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences or pursuing a teaching endorsement in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences with the intent to pursue the profession of sports medicine as a means of livelihood.
- Submit an application designed by the selection committee along with a copy of his/her official transcript, resume and three (3) letters of recommendation (including an academic reference and a character reference).
Roy Hickman Family Fund (Sports Administration)
Requirements:
- Student enrolled in Sports Administration
- Demonstrate financial need
- Deserving student working hard toward a degree
Coach Rusty Mitchell Endowed P.E. Teacher Scholarship
Eligibility:
At the time the award is given, any recipient must:
- Be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Physical Education Teacher Education program,
- Be an individual, who through the scholarship application, demonstrates a commitment to the physical education profession and a commitment to community involvement.
Preference may be given to eligible students who, through the scholarship application, demonstrate a commitment to working in the physical education profession in New Mexico.
The scholarship may be awarded to the same student in subsequent years, provided that the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria and make adequate progress toward graduation.
Armond Seidler Endowed Fellowship
Requirements:
- Provide evidence of a record of scholarly excellence
- Be enrolled in a PhD program in the Department of Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences,
- At the time the award is given, have completed all of their required coursework
- Preference may be given to students in the Sports Administration PhD program
Maria Estela Brisk, PhD Scholarship for Bilingual Education
Requirements:
The purpose of the scholarship is to help current or future teachers who work in the area of bilingual education. As such, at the time the award is given, any recipient must:- Be a graduate student in the College of Education and Human Sciences with a concentration or specialization in bilingual education,
- Through the scholarship application, submit evidence that the applicant is committed to teaching in New Mexico in Spanish/English using current best practices in bilingual education.
Patrick D. Conroy Endowed Scholarship for Bilingual Education Teachers
Requirements:
Any Recipient Must:
- Be pursuing a degree or endorsement in bilingual education in the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences,
- Possess unmet financial need,
- Plan to work as a certified bilingual education teacher in New Mexico.
Preferences
Preference may be given to eligible students who:
- Through the scholarship application, submit evidence of commitment to bilingual education in New Mexico
Dr. Dolores Gonzales Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Requirements:
- Awarded to a full time junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Demonstrate academic achievement maintaining an acceptable GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Demonstrate financial need (FAFSA).
- Student must be legal resident of NM.
- Preference will be given to student actively involved in Bilingual, Bicultural Education.
- Student must write a brief essay on his/her interests in Bilingual, Bicultural Education.
- May be awarded to same student in successive semesters providing student reapplies for scholarship.
Leroy and Dora Ortiz Scholarship in Bilingual Education
Requirements:
- Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in education and specializing in Spanish/English bilingual instruction.

- Preference will be given to the student who has received the scholarship in the previous year, assuming he/she demonstrates satisfactory progress towards graduation, for a maximum total of two years.

- The scholarship be re-awarded to the same student in subsequent years until graduation or certification completion, provided that the student continues to meet the criteria for the scholarship and maintains adequate academic progress toward graduation or certificate completion

Requirements:
At the time the award is given, any recipient must:
- Be pursuing a degree in the Department of Special Education,
- Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, and
- Be an individual, who through the scholarship application, demonstrates a commitment to a career in Special Education working with individuals with severe intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Elaine and Gary Montague Victory from the Shadows Endowed Scholarship in Special Education
Any recipient must:
- Be an undergraduate student in the Special Education Dual Licensure Program in the Department of Special Education or be a graduate student who is a licensed general education teacher who is seeking licensure in special education.
- Demonstrate academic merit.
- Be an individual who, through the scholarship application, outlines the student's history of service to others.
- Possess financial need.
- Preference may be given to students who will be engaged in student teaching or practicum atthe time the award is given.

Diane Shaner Bassett Graduate Scholarship for Students in Special Education

Requirements:
- Be enrolled in a Masters or PhD program in the UNM College of Education and Human Sciences’ Department of Special Education, and
- Wish to work in the area of special education transition and career development for secondary youth with disabilities.
To be considered eligible for this scholarship, individuals must submit evidence through the scholarship application of enrollment, and a commitment to the field of special education and specifically to transition and career development for secondary youth with disabilities.
Preference will be given to individuals who are the first in their families to pursue a graduate degree. To be considered under this preference, these individuals must additionally submit evidence through the scholarship application of first generation college student status.
Sophia's Foundation for Autism Endowed Scholarship
Requirements:
- Any Recipient must be pursuing a graduate certificate in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the College of Education and Human Sciences' Department of Special Education at the time the award is given. If, in the future, the certificate program in ASD no longer exists, any recipient must be a graduate student in the Department of Special Education, who, through the scholarship application, submits evidence of the individual's commitment to working with individuals with ASD.

Judy A. Zanotti Endowed Scholarship in Special Education
At the time the award is given, any recipient must:
- Be pursuing a degree or certificate in the Department of Special Education,
- Be an individual, who through the scholarship application, submits evidence of a commitment to working in New Mexico,
- Be an individual who, through the scholarship application, submits information as to whether he or she meets any of the scholarship’s preferences.
- First preference will be given to undergraduate students in the Dual Licensure program who plan to pursue careers as special education teachers.
- Preference may be given to students who will be engaged in student teaching at the time the award is given.
- Preference may be given to students who are single, care-giving parents of a minor child or children.
- Preference may be given to students with an unmet financial need.
Helen Esterly Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Requirements:
- Demonstrate academic achievement, GPA of 3.0 or better.
- Enrolled in the College of Education & Human Sciences completing 60 semester hours of course work at UNM.
- Awarded to an undergraduate majoring in Secondary Education.
- Scholarship is awarded on merit and demonstrated performance only, irrespective of financial need.
James E. and Janis H. Randall Endowment for Teacher Preparation
Requirements:
Any Recipient Must:
- Be enrolled in an elementary or secondary education teacher preparation program at the undergraduate or master’s degree level in the College of Education and Human Sciences at the time the award is given,
- Not be enrolled in a paid teacher residency program at the time the award is given,
- Be an individual, who, through the scholarship application, submits evidence of the individual’s commitment to teaching underserved (Title 1) students.
- Be an individual who will complete student teaching after the award is given,
- Be an individual who is willing and available to work in a summer term in a classroom position, such as lead teacher, partner teacher or classroom assistant, after completing at least a semester of student teaching, employed at and paid by Horizons Albuquerque or similar program that provides educational enrichment to underserved students in Albuquerque.
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Charles W. White and the John J. Hanzel Educational Administration Scholarship
Requirements:
- The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student pursuing an MA in Educational leadership with administrative licensure.
- Be a graduate of Albuquerque Public Schools.
- Be admitted to the UNM College of Education & Human Sciences’ Educational Leadership Program.
- Demonstrated academic achievement with a GPA of 3.0 in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Be enrolled in at least 6 units per semester.
- Be making satisfactory progress toward graduation.
Dr. Sheri S. Williams Endowed Scholarship in Educational Leadership
Eligibility:
- Be admitted to the UNM COE Educational Leadership MA degree or EdS certificate program for Administrative Licensure,

- Submit a letter of intent that addresses the applicant’s commitment to prepare for leadership in diverse multicultural and multilingual settings in urban, rural and/or Tribal contexts in New Mexico.
