Hearst Foundation Awards Grant to UNM Department of Special Education

The Board of Directors of The Hearst Foundation, Inc. awarded a grant of $100,000 to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the Applied Behavior Analysis Graduate Certificate Program in the UNM Department of Special Education. This program prepares graduate students to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). BCBAs play a crucial role in addressing the crisis in behavioral health for children, youth, and adults with developmental disabilities in New Mexico. The current critical shortage of BCBAs in NM results in significant treatment barriers to desperately needed services, especially for those living in rural areas and from underrepresented groups. The Hearst Foundation grant will facilitate increasing the number of BCBAs in NM into the future. For more information, contact Dr. Susan Copeland, susanrc@unm.edu.
