Sara Nottingham Receives Research Grant to Study Athletic Training Clinical Documentation
Sara Nottingham, Associate Professor in the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sports Sciences, was awarded a $28,464 research grant to examine the effectiveness of an interactive educational module on improving Athletic Trainers' knowledge of clinical documentation. Documentation is an essential component of athletic trainers' jobs, and helps improve the delivery of patient care and the value of athletic training services. With the support of a COEHS Center for Collaborative Research grant, Dr. Nottingham developed a Personalized Learning Pathway, or interactive, personalized virtual educational module, to educate athletic trainers about clinical documentation. The external grant funded by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Research and Education Foundation will evaluate the effectiveness of this module using a randomized controlled trial, mixed-methods design.
